Camp Viola Mountville, GA
Camp Viola

Each year Camp Viola is fortunate to receive numerous telephone calls and written request from individuals, civic and community organizations as well as local and regional businesses inquiring about volunteer opportunities at Camp Viola or how they can send financial gifts or donations to the camp to support the overall mission of Camp Viola, which is to serve the underprivileged children of Troup County and our neighboring West Georgia communities. In that Camp Viola is a 503(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization we depend heavily on grants and the generosity of others to sustain annual operating expenses. We welcome any and all donations to Camp Viola, especially those from our churches, local businesses and civic organizations. Donations come in many forms and at times have provided much needed equipment maintenance, building or roof repair, even new equipment has been donated to the camp by individuals or companies wanting to be part of providing this exciting adventure to the children we serve. Of significant value and importance are the volunteers that donate their time and energy every summer to spend a day, several days, or an entire week at camp as a “Volunteer Counselor’, working closely with the sponsoring Churches and camp staff to ensure the camp can annually serve as many children as possible. Recently the camp was privileged to have Soldiers from Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia to assist our staff in clearing trees and brush for the purpose of building additional biking trails. Hopefully it has become apparent that we appreciate and embrace all types of donations that allow us to continue to fulfill the vision of the Camp’s founder, Miss Viola Burks.

A Local Contractor’s Volunteer Experience:

Alvaro, a local contractor shared this with one of our staff: “I first spent time at Camp Viola when our church rented the camp for a spiritual retreat. A couple of months later one of the camp staff called me explaining that a building at Camp Viola had a roof problem and would leak water into the building when it rained. He stated he knew that as a roofing contractor I might consider giving him an estimate to repair the building’s roof. As I checked the roof and assessed the damage I recalled our churches wonderful experience at camp and knew that I was supposed to be repairing this roof. I gladly donated my time and materials to repair the roof, which to this day doesn’t leak water when it rains. I know this because our church continues to use the camp for holiday and spiritual services with our members”.

The Camp Viola Board of Trustees and staff enjoy receiving letters or telephone calls from individuals, families, churches, and groups that have used the facility for their Corporate, Community or Family event. We regularly post comments as we receive them and welcome feedback regarding comments posted on this page.
